The Criminal Justice Department is pleased to announce the hiring of Dr. Emily Troshynski. Professor Troshynski is an interdisciplinary trained criminologist. She holds a Ph.D. in Criminology, Law and Society from the University of California at Irvine, with a Graduate Emphasis in Gender and Feminist Studies. Through a case study on Jessica’s Law, her dissertation focused on the history of electronic monitoring and surveillance technology practices employed by the criminal justice system, as well as the realities and consequences associated with current policy.
Broadly, her research focuses on the intersections between deviance and social control (namely law), the politics of crime control, and the collateral consequences of criminalization. Professor Troshynski is also the Co-Editor of The Critical Criminologists, the newsletter of the American Society of Criminology Division on Critical Criminology.
Among the classes Professor Troshynski will be teaching are Introduction to Criminal Justice (CRJ 104), Women and Crime (CRJ 428), and Proseminar in Criminal Justice (CRJ 701).
Welcome Dr. Troshynski!
